Chwedl ar Lyn is a project funded through the John Andrews Charitable Trust to increase awareness of local culture and heritage through knowledge of local myths and legends

The project works with 7 Schools on the Llyn Peninsular in Gwynedd, working together to design and produce murals .We will spend 6 sessions with each school, discussing a specific legend local to that school’s area. These legends will then be developed into large murals to depict the story. All 7 murals will then go on display for public vote, before having an award evening at Ysgol Hafod Lon on Monday the 4th of June 2018 to celebrate the winner.

The project aims to provide schools / pupils with the opportunity to be as creative as possible – the children are given artistic licence to do as they wish, with Groundwork staff supporting their vision and helping to bring it to life.

Key outcomes from this project:

  • Educating pupils about local myths and legends.
  • Encouraging artistic and creative development.
  • Promoting the importance of team work.
  • Working with 7 schools and encouraging networking between them.
