Access
This reserve is situated on the outskirts of Wrexham near Rhosllanerchrugog. Wild Ground owns and manages a proportion of this site, the rest is under the control of Wrexham County Borough Council

Habitats
The area consists mainly of wetland and grassland/meadow. The site has Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) status due to the presence of the Great crested newt and other amphibians and is also a Special area of Conservation (SAC).

Notable species

  • Amphibians: Common frog, common toad, smooth newt, palmate newt and great crested newt.
  • Butterflies: Red admiral, small skipper, green veined white, comma.
  • Birds: Bullfinch, redwing, swallow, house martins, mute swan and snipe, great tit, goldfinch, magpie, chaffinch, water rail

Special Features
An assemblage of the five widespread amphibian species, namely common frog, common toad, palmate newt, common newt and great crested newt.

Management
Management has involved mainly invasive species removal (Crassula Helmsii), litter removal, pond creation, grassland management and tree/hedgerow planting
