Cycling Projects Volunteer – Pedal Power, Cycling 4 All

Purpose: Assist in the development, planning and delivery of a variety of outdoor, community cycling projects and activities across North East Wales.

Location: Pedal Power, Alyn Waters Country Park, Wrexham

Key Responsibilities: Assist in the development, planning and delivery of the all ability cycling service.

Assist with running of the Pedal Power service at Alyn Waters CP to include: Taking money and using the till, welcoming customers and getting helmets ready, setting up the bikes for delivery and putting bikes away.

If volunteers are interested it could also include assisting in preparing individual bikes for users and assisting with bike maintenance.

Report to: Pedal Power Coordinator

Length of Appointment: Longer-term commitments are preferred.

Time Commitment: Negotiable (am/pm) sessions throughout the week when the service is open – Wednesday and Friday 9am till 4pm

Qualifications Required: No specific requirements as training is offered, however good communication skills, a keen interest in cycling and some experience of assisting with outdoor activities for adults and children with learning disabilities, physical disabilities and/or mental health is desirable, along with bike maintenance.

Support and Training: Bike leading qualification and maintenance courses. Regular support and on-site training is provided.

Age Requirement: 16+

Dress Code: Casual clothing / preferably warm clothing in the Winter months.

DBS Check Required: Not at present but may be required in the future, depending on the groups of people individual will be working with.

Other: Risk Assessment/Health & Safety Talk. Ideal for work experience placements or young people looking for experience to support their application and progression into care work or supporting vulnerable individuals.

There is a café on-site at Alyn Waters CP for food and refreshments.
